The baseline of the force curve correlates with long-distance forces. It was found that it is sensitive to magnetic and electrostatic fields induced by the sample. Here you can see MFM scans of hard drive and EFM images of carbon nanotubes extracted from the baseline. This proves that there are no unimportant parts in new topic of investigation.
